As part of activities marking the birthday of Joseph Effiok Hogan, FOUNDER and CEO of HoganHost and also the CHAIRMAN and CEO of ZuumHost, on June 10, Ruth Boyle, Chief Operating Officer of ZuumHost, joined the HoganHost team on a corporate social responsibility visit to the Motherless Babies Home in Lekki, Lagos.
The visit was led by Joseph Effiok and formed part of the HoganHost family’s commitment to giving back to society. As a subsidiary of HoganHost, ZuumHost is proud to share in this vision of supporting people, communities, and causes that need care and attention.
During the visit, the team spent time with the children, interacted with the management of the home, and donated essential items to support the welfare of the babies.
For us at ZuumHost, Ruth Boyle participation was a meaningful reminder that business is not only about providing reliable hosting and digital solutions. It is also about showing compassion, standing with vulnerable people, and contributing positively to the society around us.
The experience was deeply touching. Hearing some of the stories shared by the home reminded everyone present of the importance of responsible parenting, community support, and creating safer environments for children.
Speaking after the visit, Joseph Effiok Hogan shared how moved he was by the experience and how it has strengthened his desire to continue supporting vulnerable children and communities.
“I felt compassion for all the beautiful babies, especially after hearing the stories of how they came here. I came with my team in commemoration of my birthday and as part of our corporate social responsibility, but what I have seen today has created a passion in me for this support not to stop, but to continue,” he said.
He also encouraged people to take responsibility for pregnancy and childcare, rather than abandoning children in difficult circumstances.
“No matter what happens, children should not be abandoned. We must learn to take responsibility. A child should not be left for another person to train simply because the parents are not prepared,” he added.
A social worker at the home, Mrs. Tosin Lawal, also spoke about the dangers of child abandonment. She explained that many children in orphanages are victims of abandonment, while some are rescued from unsafe situations, including child trafficking.
She advised parents and guardians who are unable to care for their children to seek support from trusted relatives or responsible individuals instead of leaving children in unsafe places.
The visit included Joseph Effiok Hogan, CEO of HoganHost and ZuumHost; Ruth Boyle, Chief Operating Officer of ZuumHost; Esther Bassey, Human Resources Officer; Frank Ibingo, Technical Head of HoganHost; and John Abia, a member of the support team.
At ZuumHost, we are proud to be part of the HoganHost family and to support initiatives that bring hope, care, and positive impact to society. This visit reminded us that even small acts of kindness can make a meaningful difference, and we remain committed to being part of efforts that help build a more caring community.
